With Terrell and SGA falling in the second round of state football playoffs Friday night, well, y'all know what time it is. Time to talk roundball. SGA will be improved and TAE down after graduating an entire starting 5 and then some. WW will be young and inexperienced. Crisp has been practicing since August I'm sure so they have that advantage. Grace, GCA, and Highland have vacated. So, with all that being said, I think this region will be very competitive. I think the favorite right now is Crisp. However, the Warriors have lots of upperclassmen and only lost one starter from last year's team. Watch out for those "pesky Warriors."

Well, I say Westwood is a team. Center gets hurt but Westwood goes ten deep and someone should have stepped up. Both aa teams lost to the same state champs. Why leave your play maker on the court with four fouls and more than two minutes on the clock?
Two seniors had chances to win the title game. Point blank layup and 12footer.
Win as a team or lose as a team.
Are you saying we got out coached?

All girls contributes and not talking about coaching . It was a reply to the Crisp comment. Crisp has a good and sizable center that most don’t much up against but Jones can handle any center in GISA. On the final four comment, WW advanced to the championship game surpassing Crisp. With only a one point difference in the championship game, the absence of Pollock was felt. Two important games where WW lost an important player. The Buck can stop here no need for over analyzing

Never been one to do that thinking thing anyway. Glenwood will have a sizeable center. Will Jones be back & full strength? Anyone know the following answers to these questions?
Who are the two players boys and girls closest to 1,000 points and what are the current totals?
What are the single game scoring records for the boys and girls and who currently holds them?

bottom line buck, we got exposed - we were deep enough and big enough - we just did not get it done. this year we r not as deep or as big. hopefully we will play with more maturity and shoot the ball better from the outside. jones, pollock and thompson are not enough to win region or state. time for others to do more than run around and shoot blanks

I think we all know who the girls favorite is... I sure do......it is crisp the defending region champs and final four team. Well the favorite to win Region 3 AA “Crisp” didn’t fare to well against the Lady Gators. Final Glenwood 54. Crisp 27 On the other hand the Lady Cats took care of business! Final WW 57- GW 41.

catsmeow, the ladies have started out strong again. and for the record buck and i are wildcat fans - but we will not be blinded to facts. today, the defense was strong as was the inside game but everyone that was there saw dreadful outside shooting. despite this fact the ladycats won - but we must get better.

I agree that CA struggled a bit in both games. Shooters weren’t nearly as consistent as I have seen in the past, and they didn’t get it to their center nearly enough as she made plays more often than not when they did. I was surprised by their performance.
As for WW, they dominated the first game and played GW VERY close through the half. I saw some uncharacteristic mistakes and yes, poor outside shooting. I’m sure they will work out the kinks.

Buck I know this is the basketball forum but what would it take for Westwood to build their baseball program like they've managed to build their basketball ball program?

Buck I know this is the basketball forum but what would it take four Westwood to build their baseball program like they've managed to build their basketball ball program? Since buck knows a lot about nothing, I guess I could comment on things. I wrote a long post about baseball last week I think. 1. Don't make promises to kids who are very new while putting long standing kids in jeopardy. There were things said and things done that was to the benefit of the few new kids. Those players left after getting what they needed at Westwood with eligibility left. Long standing kids decided to do other school activities. Now you have depth and inexperienced issues. 2. Losing players to baconton and Pelham. Kids will stay and play if number 3 happens, 3. New coaching. Time to look for a guy that has coaching/playing experience. Someone that will be there for the next ten years. Funny how middle school is good but varsity can't scour the halls to field a team. In relation to basketball, coach Smith started her feeder system at the Jr pro level. Went six years without a jv loss. Put in years of her time to build the program. Baseball needs that same dedicated person that can bring coaching to every level at Westwood. Stop the exodus of talent. In short, a fresh start.
