I agree. VSU was built by Hal Mumme. Also, in 2007 he was handed a loaded team by Chris Hatcher. Even a rec coach could have won with them. 2012 was his, I give him that. But realistically, shouldn't VSU have been playing FCS long ago? Alright, so 2007 might have been a Hatcher built team but he still had to still get it done and he did, but let's not forget 2012. That year was a total showstopper built by Dean himself. (127-47), two national titles under his belt from his Valdosta State days, and over 20 NCAA playoff games? The guy knows how to coach. Plus, let’s not overlook his time at UWG, leading them to two Semi-Finals. With a track record like that, he could definitely turn things around in Lanier County. If ya reread the post you quoted, I gave him his props for winning in 2012. Won't say he isn't a good coach. Just not a miracle worker for Lanier. I mean realistically, VSU and WGU should compete every year regardless of the HC. The talent is there in those Regions.

I know where he coached. I live not far from there. I worked some of the WGU games. I'll probably work a few next season too. They still weren't lighting the world on fire during his tenure neither. 26 and 0. Get ready for number 27 in a row. Oh yeah? You're really throwing a lot of shade for someone whose kid plays in Pike County! Lol My oldest played in Rec, and his little brothers will play next season. I'm giving the new coach time to see what he does. He did beat Clinch and Telfair on the road in the playoffs, and was a good coordinator for Pike when they made it to the QF. Something Lanier hasn't done.

Perhaps it's time for Pike County to consider switching to 8-man football. It's ironic when people like you hide behind Clinch's success, yet your own kids are in a struggling program and you still have the nerve to criticize Lanier. LOL

LOL I don't hide behind Clinch's success, I was part of the history. So was my father, my brother, and several cousins. I am a little jealous of one of my cousins because he got to see what it was like to play against Lanier in the second half. It got boring being pulled out at the start of the second half because the game was already over. Like I said, my kids play Rec ball right now. Waiting to see if the new coach turns it around. If not, oh well, we still got Soccer and trust me, mine are gonna get noticed regardless of whether they play for Pike.or Trinity (Hint, hint)

In two days, all the speculation will be laid to rest. Today's confirmation solidified that Lanier County is about to secure the most substantial offseason hire even bigger than Camden or Tift County IMO. Hats off to the administration for their patience and strategic hire to get it right. While it may take some time for the results to show, Lanier County is set to transform from merely an ordinary homecoming game opponent. Additionally, a new head baseball coach from Pierce County will be taking over as JW retires. Kudos and congratulations to JW for his remarkable career, amassing over 500 wins and dedicating over 30 years to this community. Best of luck to our Bulldogs in the second round at 28-2, Baconton tomorrow. Also best wishes to Pierce County as they’re also in the 2nd round against Jeff Davis this week. Welcome to Bulldog Country!

I strongly disagree. This is the biggest hire since Rush was hired at Colquitt.

I think Tift got a better hire as he has proven track record in GA high school. Biggest hire this decade bro, don’t be silly! Well seeing as he has never won a high school game. Kinda hard to say it’s the greatest hire definitely think it’s a good one but hard to qualify greatest hire. Think Rogers at TCC was best hire of the decade so far.

Bro aint nobody at ANY level in high school getting a 2-national champion college head coach! If you think Lanier won't be competitive over night with that staff he's bringing in your just not being very logical.

Shoot Pittman started the program and he was a Hall of Famer
