All right players we are back for our 5th season of vent picks. So if you have a dog in this hunt please feel free to jump in and make your picks. As with years past we will keep a running tally of the scores and crown a champ at the end of the season.
Of course these are just my opinion, so please don’t get Butt hurt if I say something bad about your team.
Here’s what I’ve got as we kickoff the 2017 season. Games will be played on Thursday (8/17), and Friday (8/18).
Jones County vs Houston County @ 5 Star Stadium, Mercer University (8/17) – The Hounds lost a lot on offense as Hunicutt and Singleton will be hard to replace. This year the young defense that had to grow up fast last year will be the strength of the team. But the man on offense will be Sr. QB Teldrick Ross who moves over to the offense after playing defense last season. The Bears begin life after Jake Fromm and they also have a new head coach as well as Ryan Crawford took over from Von Lassiter who took the Bleckley County job. One person they have back is Trey Hill the consensus number 2 offensive guard in the nation according to 247 Sports. Should be a good one as both teams are young on offense. I’ll be at the game and I’m going with Jones County
Hampton @ Morrow 12 Oaks Stadium (8/18) – Last Season the Hornets celebrated their first ever school win versus the Mustangs. I think they make it two in a row. Hampton
Eagles Landing vs ELCA – (8/18) – ELCA returns 27 starters from last season’s state championship team and have to be the odds on favorite to bring home the trophy again this year. The Golden Eagles will be improved this season with QB Cam Lewis leading the way on offense and DB Bryce Dewberry anchoring the secondary. I just don’t think they will have enough to topple the Chargers. ELCA
Woodland @ Union Grove (8/18) – Two new coaches have their first taste of this Henry County rivalry game as Chad Frazier and Bryan Love square off in the Shane’s Rib Shack BBQ Bowl. Word I’m getting is that the Grove is improved this year, but I don’t think they are quite ready for the Pack. Woodland
Ola at Pike Co. - This one will be Chris Rodriguez all night. Mustangs big. Ola
Locust Grove OFF - The Wildcats open up next Friday night when the travel to Warner Robins to take on the Demons at the MAC
Stockbridge OFF – The Tigers start defense of their region crown on August 26th versus Mays at Clark Atlanta University.
Dutchtown OFF – My Dawgs begin their first season under Clifford Fedd vs Ola next Friday night at the new Bulldog Stadium.
Good Luck to all!
