Any traction on letting gapps run a football merger league for a cycle?

If I hear anything through the grapevine (I am not “on the inside”) I will post what I hear

Around 5-6 months ago there was some momentum building for all of the non-ATL single A Ghsa privates to join or rejoin Gisa but from what I have heard it has kind of died out. With loganville chris. and DWS leaving next summer the Gisa likely needs to approach the Gapps people about a 2 year deal on maybe like a trial basis for football and see what happens maybe it could lead to a merger between the 2 orgs.

Ghsa privates used a possible exodus to get a better outcome. Doubt they told the gisa the whole story. Still think the gisa has too many ghsa schools in important gisa positions.
A meeting between gapps and gisa is needed with gapps running football for 2 years.

I wonder if GISA would need to come forth with a big bag of money to help with the debt situation that GICAA had or did the name change to GAPPS make that go away since the old entity no longer exists (except they're at the same address).

Every now and again you bring up the supposedly terrible financial situation of GICAA/GAPPS....yet I have never seen you put up anything that comes close to evidence of it. Sure, schools have run into difficulties over the years....but I haven’t seen any sign the league has financial issues. Now, I am perfectly willing to believe it is true (would be easy for a small league to get into trouble) ....but all I see is a league that continues to function across many sports without sign of financial distress. Creditors aren’t a forgiving lot.....so if it was bad, I would expect to see some signs of distress.

Not a merger. I just wanted to see if anybody agrees that a football test run would be good for business.

Ever seen a mobile home sales lot go out of business on a Friday and on Monday there's a new name on a new sign in the same location with the same inventory for sale? Details about these things are kept well under wraps but as I've stated before, I know some very reliable and respected people who know some people who knew the situation and talked about it. It's an accounting shell game. And please don't answer "cause God told them to..."

Idiot Get over the fact we have a respectable league where teams dont quit like Eggbert your son when going gets tough. All this talk from the skeet mark Greasa boys begging us to merge leagues is laughable. Dont believe everything you hear in the bath house’s and rest areas where you frequent Immarunt. We are just fine.
Back to Back Region Champs Ooohhhh Aahhhhh

I believe it was done to open the door for different kinds of private schools to join. If they had a bankruptcy it would be a matter of public record....so ithose kind of things can’t be covered up. Knowing a guy, who knows a guy, who says he knows something is far from evidence....c’mon man. That’s as flimsy as it comes

I know for a FACT that when GICAA came to the table for a proposed merger 2 years ago, one of their terms was that GISA assume the $250,000 debt that GICAA had accrued. That debt hasn’t disappeared That is helpful to explain why folks think the GICAA has financial issues. That kind of info is much stronger than statements that “I know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows something”. Now, is a 250k loan a mega-issue for the league? Idk.. . Depends of if there is collateral backing it and what the cash flow is. When there is a merger in anything (business, etc) the debt of either party generally gets assumed by the new organization (if there is a new one) or by the existing acquiring organization. The only way debt doesn’t get assumed is in bankruptcy or if it is paid off somehow through the merger.. So, the fact the GICAA would need debt assumed is actually normal. Businesses have the same thing happen when they merge. But, the question is what is the debt for? And how is it being managed? So, it’s not necessarily terrible....but raises some questions

Thanks, wishbone, for bringing some facts. I can't say who I learned about it from (but it WAS well documented on the old forum about the debt, etc) because the person is a well-respected venter and well known and sent me a PM with facts that he knew for certain, just as wishbone described....but he asked that it stay "off the record" as to who told me so that's where it still stands. But it doesn't change the facts which obviously mdl knows nothing about since all his statements are assumptions.

Wishbone..
Do you know why the fact that GICAA has debt is viewed as scandalous? I mean it doesn’t necessarily seem like it would be automatically assumed so. Heck, most of us have debt of some form (mortgage, car , etc)......so is there something about it that seemed “off” when they came to the table for the merger talks? Asking a good-faith question here.

WishICouldStillGetaBoner spreads rumors and lies. Another tin foil hat Greasa suckup that is still hurt we shunned them like Corky does deodorant. Surely there must be some exciting Greasa ball to watch. Make sure you buy a program as the names change each week.
