Don’t anyone take this too serious....I saw a lot of games and watched a lot of film.....but this is just for fun.
Griffin Christian: A-
With easily the best QB and receiver core in A and a solid defense they made the plays they needed to make to take home the title.
Areas to improve: Run blocking. As strong as their passing game was, they struggled to move the ball on the ground against better defenses
Lafayette Christian: B+
With the best backfield (when healthy), a strong OL and a front 7 on defense other teams couldn’t really run the ball against late season....they nearly powered their way to the title.
Areas to improve: had what is most likely the worst passing game in single A (which is saying something)and that made LCS totally one dimensional this year. The offensive skill guys also need to work on their blocking as key missed blocks and offensive penalties on this group may well have kept LCS from the title. Defensive secondary improved as the season went along, but there is work to do there.
Georgia Christian: B-
Vastly improved over last season and showed decent big play ability. A well run and balanced attack along with an improved defense made them relevant in A. A team on the rise
Areas to improve: lack of upper-tier offensive line play made it hard to score with consistency as they couldn’t run or protect the passer well enough in key situations. DL play needs work as well
Fullington: C+
Another team that is seemingly on the rise. They lost a lot of seniors from last year (from a team that wasn’t very good) and this could have been a very, very rough year. It wasn’t a great year for w/l but they played far more competitive than I would have thought and their coaches seemingly made the most of what they did have. OL play and the run game looked much improved as the year went along. Team seems headed in the right direction.
Areas to improve: still plenty, across the board. They need to get or develop some players who have speed to threaten the top A teams. Possibly the slowest team in A
Central Christian: F
Sorry, it was just this bad .... zero wins and only 1 TD scored all year.
Central is a proud and accomplished program, I have no doubt they will develop players, rebuild and be back.
Areas to improve: I won’t beat a dead horse here...basically everything. Defense did show some improvement as the year went along which was encouraging.
John Hancock: Incomplete
I didn’t see them play live or much on film. So I really can’t give a true grade here. I did expect them to contend for the title and they didn’t really. Overall, they didn’t seem as strong upfront as last year and lacked top end speedsters....but again...my exposure was limited, which isn’t their fault
