High School football season is officially complete. However, most wrestling teams are well under way and have an idea of their potential for the season and areas of concern. I have had the opportunity to see a few teams compete and the competition has been a blast to watch! There is a lot of talent in north Georgia. We all know about Lundy in South Georgia but he is just getting started. And congratulations to him and his team on their State Championship. Also, we still know about Commerce and that they will field a great team as usual. They have to be favored in Duals and Traditionals until someone detrones them. The comment about Darlington doing well in traditionals in an earlier thread I am not sure about. They lost alot to graduation and unless they have something they haven't shown then they have a long ways to go. I also observed Trion defeat Holy Innocents 64-9 and looked strong. Mount Zion, Mount De Salles, Darlington, Walker, Holy Innocents and Bowdon all have some good kids but not sure they have enough of them to do anything with Commerce, Mount Pisgah or Trion. I am curious as to how w2018, dptiger or cheertiger looks at things as I am sure they are aware of how most teams seasons have began.

Trion’s program has been top tier for the last few years but I think they may just be getting started. They have a solid team this year and a lot of talent coming up in the middle school. I think if they can finally beat Commerce that they will dominate for years to come.

TBH, I'm a little concerned about Commerce this year. We graduated a lot over the past couple of years. We still have a lot of talent, but I don't see Commerce being as dominate as in years past. The team didnt have a great showing at Bradley Invitational last week. It was a tough event, but Commerce placed around 7th (usually place in the top 3). Flint, Legg, both Frates, Burns, and IMO a freshman @ 220 should be State placers. Not sure what we have other than those guys.
Guessing Lundy will be @ 220 for Trad, and will be the top dawg in any weight he competes in.
Did Darlington graduate all those great wrestlers they had last year?

I’m not 100% but I believe Darlington lost a few of them. They will still be a great team but I don’t expect them to challenge Trion.

Darlington lost quite a lot to graduation. They still have around 4 or 5 hammers but I don’t think enough of them to make it any noise at duals. Mount Pisgah and Trion both seem to be on the rise right now. I haven’t been able to get a good feel for Commerce yet but it is a no brainer that their Coach will have them ready when they arrive in Macon. They seem to always peak at the right time! I do think Commerce, Trion and Mount Pisgah will be the top three at State Duals when everyone leaves on Saturday evening. If CTD is correct on Commerce not being as dominant this year then it may be close with those three. Good competition instead of Commerce blowing everyone out would be more fun for everyone except maybe Commerce.

Trion lost one of their seniors to injury a couple of weeks ago but they should still be very strong

Which wrestler was lose? I hate that for them. They had a tough kid get hurt last year around area/state duals time also. I feel Commerce will win duals again, but it will be closer for them than years past. Commerce has at least 5-7 hammers that will beat anyone Trion, Mt. Pisgah, or any other team at Duals for that matter. Mt. Pisgah should be wrestling for 3/4 and Holy Innocents will be another tough team to look out for. Now for traditional's I do believe Commerce could get knocked off if Trion can get some of their top kids in the finals. Cant wait!

Ethan Madaris was the senior that was injured.
