just because a school wants to keep there head in the sand doesnt mean that the excitement of the coming game is building. this is another huge game for the cats. westwood is 3-0 yet have they won a signature game this year? dominion, westminster and twiggs are all good teams and are all 8man playoff teams. grace appears to be on a higher level - a more complete team. westwood needs this game to continue to prove that they are a legitimate challenger to windsor next week and in the playoffs. this feels like the most important game the cats have played this year.

Just an end of season follow up. Grace finished 7-4 and didn’t make the GAPPS 8 man playoffs as they finished 3rd in their region.
While I hadn’t seen any games or film on Grace (so I had nothing to comment on at the time) I understand that they certainly had a good team with a solid season this year. Problem is in GAPPS 8 man being good gets you maybe into the playoffs (maybe not in Graces case). To be a real contender in GAPPS 8 man you have to be better than just good.
In many ways GISA 8 man is the mirror image of GAPPS 11 man. In both leagues the lack of teams distorts what a great team even looks like. I.e… A merely good team can dominate a small league and look better than they really are. Of course a small league can produce great teams….just the bigger the league the easier it is to sort the truly great teams from the merely good ones.

not impressed with gapps - not enough crossover games played between solid gisa and gapps 8man teams. WW = 1 in 2 years (grace 52-20 win and that was with the gloves off); Windsor = 1 this year & last (loss to covenant 22-50 this year and a win against them of about the same score); westminster = zero this year. looks to me that the better gapps schools have no interest in playing the better gisa schools. i get why the gapps schools desire to play holy spirit, dominion, young americans, its about the 'w'.

I know it’s maybe a hard thing to accept that GISA 8 man doesn’t strike the same note of concern that GISA 11 man does. It just doesn’t….and there is nothing wrong with that for a league of your size and history. Maybe one day GAPPS 8 man will dodge the better GISA 8’s….but that isn’t remotely what’s happening now. To imagine that is just wishful thinking. GAPPS 8 man is a much bigger league with a ton more history the the newish GISA 8 man…,so they don’t need to and don’t schedule many out of GAPPS games because we have no problems filling out schedules just amongst us and always have. GISA 8 man is the upstart new league that really needs the out of association games to help fill out schedules. So, GAPPS 8 man doesn’t need your GISA cupcakes (The teams you mentioned) …we have plenty of our own cupcakes if teams need a win. The fact is the Covenant trounced Windsor this year (the year Covenant is actually contending) , WW (who I wish nothing but the best to) beat a good, but non-playoff GAPPS team. You didn’t beat a contender. GISA 8 man can have some good and even great teams just no one good here is dodging GISA 8 man squads because they are afraid to play a “big bad”. We have our own monsters to contend with right here and always have. Heck, I know from a Dominion source scheduled us because they thought we were the cupcake (not the other way around). We had only 2 returning starters (none on offense) and 13 players total, so yeah they had good reason to think that (no less than 3 teams scheduled us for their homecoming game…we went 2-1). 36-6 win by us over dominion. But, we weren’t even good this year…just ok, which was better than we thought going in with the players we had. I wish nothing but the best for GISA 8 man. 10 years ago my firstborn played 8 man in the only 8 man league in GA (pre-GICAA) and it’s good to see all the new teams and the passion. Y’all are definitely headed in a better direction than GAPPS 11 man.

not wishful thinking, maybe south ga bias. Fair enough. South GA produces some great teams and players. GAPPS 8 man used to have a West GA bias for years. All the contenders and champions came out from West of Atl to the AL border. It was always a war to play any West GA team. However, that has faded a bit as other places have taken more titles the past couple of years. Now, if y’all want to play some real challenging 8 man football teams…..schedule some of the better Alabama 8 man schools. We have played our share over the years (being in a border county). It doesn’t get talked about on these Georgia boards, but they have some programs and 8 man athletes over there. 2 of the best 8 man kids I have ever seen (in 11 years of going to 8 man games) were AL 8man studs with D-1 offers.
