It seems like I was just asking this over the summer, but what's going on in Chula? Coach Guess steps down after the 1st game, the previous coach stepped down after a month during the summer. The team has a good young base to build on. So is it administration or parents, the culture or both? I was waiting to see if anyone made mention of this before I asked.

Parents would be my guess! Lost our softball coach half way through the season this year because of that. . Good old momma & daddy ball .

So that's why Walters-Smith went to Colquitt County.

From what I know it’s been a combination of a lot of reasons why Coach Guess stepped down some of which you named. It’s gonna be an interesting year for sure in Chula with the girls team cause they replace all the starters and now they have a full time interim coach that I don’t see getting the job full time after this year.

That a big part of the reason. Since I last posted the current head coach apparently got in some legal trouble IDk, if that will affect her position with the school or team or not.

After speaking with people extremely close to the situation, it appears that parents were a big issue. Coach Guess came from DW and I guess he wasn't prepared for how tiftarea ran things. TA graduated 5 seniors who go the bulk of the playing time, they had a 8th grade guard who played a lot and 9th grader off the bench. With those 5 spots open it seems that some thought those spots and time would be awarded through politics more so than putting the work in at practice. Also lack of Admin support as far as reigning the parents in factored in, and I was lead to believe that the former coach who is now coaching the boys wouldn't stop advising the girls. Take it with a grain a salt,
