“The GHSA settled on a playoff and rankings formula for 3A-A that will seed teams with a model similar to the RPI rankings the NCAA sometimes uses. The plan would award preferred seeding to region champions and runners-up and give automatic playoff berths to the top four finishers in each region. Some schools will make the playoffs with at-large berths when they finish outside the top four.
Private schools in classes 3A to A need a seeding model because they will be competing in multiple classifications with public schools during the regular season, then separated into private-only state playoff brackets.
The 3A, 2A, A Division I playoffs also will use the ranking model because some of their regions contain private schools that won’t make their playoffs.”

(Formulas, metrics, computer models, strength of schedule, who beat teams you beat, who lost to teams you beat, power rankings aka rankin model, seeding model, RPI on steroids….hmmmmmm….has this been tried before?)

What determines the top 4 teams in sub-divided regions? Holmes said he'd prefer to just play all nine region games and Swainsboro but I'll be surprised if the 4 Macon schools agree to only one outside game

And class A D2 playoff formula stays the same.no changes since no privates are in low A. My only complaint is allowing schools with 500 to 550 students to appeal and play down in D2.i also understand these schools should not be playing in D1 either against 700 & 900 students.so there u go it is what it is.

At least (on paper) they are trying to fix the main problem of the original PR system... by locking down the system used to enter game results. I'm sure there will be some issues still with incorrect schools being entered, but I think there should be some sort of handshake within the system (if Team A enters a game into the system stating they play Team B, then Team B has to approve this entry for it to be valid). Didn't mention if Maxpreps is handling the schedules and results entries, but I imagine they will stick with them (highly doubt GHSA will handle this internally).
Interesting how there will be no additional points added into the new system for playing higher classifications. A 2A school gets the same amount of points playing a 1A school as they would a 6A school.
And only GHSA teams are factored into the scoring... no out-of-state teams factored into the new PR... no GISA teams either for that matter.
The points system will be universal to all sports, unlike the old PR system which was calculated differently for football and the other sports.

So the sub-region champs would play for the region title with the loser being runner up. And then sub region 2nd place teams play for 3rd place, while sub region 3rd place teams play for 4th place.
