I’m not sure about the rules, but several years ago Greenville had an interim head coach who was a general contractor. If I remember correctly, I think the head coach resigned and they were not able to find a coach before the season started.

I do remember them possibly going to a classified employee being able to be a HC

A certified full-time parapro or a full time employee working in an administrative role with a 4 year degree can be a head coach starting next year, but not a community coach. You can't work at the air force base and also be the head coach of your local team. You still have to be a full time employee of the school district.

Proposal to modify by-law 2.51 on page 26 of the GHSA Constitution to read as follows (new text in italic): An athletic head coach must be a professional teacher,a certified para pro, or hold a four-year degree while also employed in a teaching or administrative position ...NOTE: Paraprofessionals must take the Head Coaching Class offered through the GHSA coaches education program. (Note: effective in 2024-25 school year) Motion Passed (Unanimously)
